Fuddruckers is now open in Rockwall, Texas!

LUBY’S, INC. BRINGS TWO ICONIC TEXAS RESTAURANT BRANDS TOGETHER IN DALLAS AREA FOR THE FIRST TIME WITH DEBUT OF SIDE-BY-SIDE LUBY’S AND FUDDRUCKERS IN ROCKWALL

DALLAS, TX – June 26, 2014 – Today, Luby’s, Inc. introduced its first dual concept location in the Dallas area with simultaneous openings for two of its signature, Texas-born brands. The side-by-side Luby’s cafeteria and Fuddruckers fast casual restaurant site is located in Rockwall at 2235 S. Goliad Street between Interstate 30 and Highway 276. The venues occupy a free-standing, 13,000-square-foot structure. This is the company’s third new build project of its kind. The prototype debuted in the Houston suburb of Pearland in August 2012, and an Austin site was added in March 2014.

According to Peter Tropoli, Chief Operating Officer of Luby’s, Inc., “We’re excited to be growing in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex with this iconic pairing of Texas-based brands. Geared around quality and convenience, the dual concept location is an ideal fit for the discerning tastes of Rockwall residents.”

The Fuddruckers component seats 92 and features 3,000 square feet, while Luby’s can accommodate 220 guests in 9,900 square feet. Fuddruckers presents a fresh take on the chain’s signature, roadhouse look with a design that caters to today’s more sophisticated tastes with an environment that is ideal for a family outing or a date night. The décor at Luby’s references both the Texas Hill Country and aspects of the Mid-Century modern movement, paying homage to the place and time of the brand’s 1940s era beginnings. Rich finishes include inviting accents of bronze and walnut, while a neutral background gives way to pops of vibrant color, including red, avocado and Mediterranean blue. Traditional, leather upholstered wood chairs are offset by contemporary fixtures and murals.

Fuddruckers Enhances its Menu with New Offerings

FUDDRUCKERS ENHANCES MENU AND GUEST OFFERINGS; FAST CASUAL CHAIN ROLLING OUT NEW BAKED GOODS, PREMIUM TOPPINGS, SHAKE SIZE AND COMBO DEAL

HOUSTON, TX – June 17, 2014 – Fuddruckers is adding to its all-American appeal with new red, white and blue menu boards. The installation, which is now complete at locations in the fast casual chain’s home state of Texas and will follow at all company-owned locations across the country later this summer, also ushers in a number of guest enhancements.

Fuddruckers has doubled its selection of premium toppings. Diners now have a dozen mix and match choices to build the “World’s Greatest Hamburgers.” Grilled pineapple, fried egg, chili, tortilla strips, fried onion rings, sliced avocado and green chiles join a lineup of classics like smokehouse bacon, grilled mushrooms, grilled jalapenos, fresh guacamole and grilled onion.

The new menu also allows guests to make any item a combo for just $3.75. The upgrade includes an order of fries and unlimited trips to the Coca-Cola Freestyle® self-service fountain while dining in. The freedom to choose comes with a hundred core Freestyle favorites that can be combined to create a seemingly endless number of personalized refreshments. In addition, guests have the opportunity to upgrade from a soda to a beer or shake.

While freshly-baked buns have long been a staple of the Fuddruckers experience, the range of baked goods has expanded to include sweets like cinnamon rolls and donut holes. Additionally, the kids menu now offers pizza utilizing the brand’s popular bun dough, which is hand-pressed and baked to order to ensure a crispy and delicious dish for the finickiest of eaters.

For guests with smaller appetites, Fuddruckers has introduced a seven-ounce option of its hand-spun shakes. Four ounces smaller than the regular size, the shakes continue to deliver a selection of big and bold flavors that include vanilla, chocolate, strawberry, peanut butter and Oreo®.

“Alumni Spotlight: Recent Grad’s Swift Rise to Corporate Chef
Kaitlyn Venable always knew she wanted to be a chef. By the time she earned her bachelor’s from Hilton College in December 2012, Venable had already attended the Culinary Institute of America and had racked up quite a bit of fine-dining experience. But when it came time to start her career, that culinary dream job simply wasn’t there. “I knew I needed to work, and Luby’s/Fuddruckers was the first one to give me an opportunity, so I jumped at it,” she said. As it turns out, that was just the chance she needed. While working as an assistant manager at one of Luby’s Houston locations, she was unexpectedly approached by Todd Coutee, senior vice president of operations for Luby’s/Fuddruckers. He asked her what her goals were, and she said though she was glad to be getting experience in management, she really wanted to be on the culinary team. Intrigued, Coutee asked her to cook—first for him and later for the board of directors. Apparently, they were impressed. In August 2013, she was promoted to corporate chef—one of just three in the whole company—and now, she spends her days developing recipes and living her dream. “Every day is different, which I love,” she said. “And my time as a manager has made me a better corporate chef, so I’m thankful for that chance.” Her advice for someone who’d like to pursue a similar career? “Don’t be afraid to follow your dream, even if it seems daunting. It’s worth it. You just have to be open to all opportunities, because you never know which one could lead you to your goal.” Well said. Chef Kaitlyn, you make Hilton College proud!”

The restaurant also features a full-service bar. The dedicated area with seating for 29 features an extensive beer selection, as well as wine, cocktails and specialty drinks, including a variety of margaritas, mojitos, pina coladas and sangrias.

Fuddruckers Accelerates International Expansion with new South American Franchise Partner

An initial, 10-unit partnership with South America’s SRTC calls for locations throughout Chile, beginning with the populous country’s first site in Santiago.
